This standard helps to improve the performance of buildings that are already in use, with support for benchmarking, assurance and validation of operational asset data.

The BREEAM In-Use standard can be used to assess and benchmark the sustainability of all operational asset types. Each standard uses a common framework, allowing for international consistency and comparability.
This framework is underpinned by credible science, with an assessment process that identifies valuable insights on the asset’s performance. BREEAM is an internationally recognised certification, providing assurance and validation of the data collated throughout.

The BREEAM In-Use V6 technical manuals set out the assessment criteria, scoring and evidence requirements for existing buildings.
Two versions are available: BREEAM In-Use Commercial V6 for commercial assets, and BREEAM In-Use Residential V6 for residential assets.
