ABOUT THE BUILDING

pickslongcropThe building is a data centre at the British Geological Survey (BGS) Campus at Keyworth near Nottingham, in which data processing facilities were re-housed. A direct replacement for the existing computer suite, the building also provides space for future expansion of computing facilities. It is unoccupied, with control of the centre operated from a nearby building.

breeam_awards2012winnerThe new building is intended to improve the efficiency of the technical facilities in terms of performance, energy efficiency and space standards. No demolition was required and a landscape scheme was proposed as an integral part of the development. It will be linked to the existing campus by a new corridor and footpaths.

The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and BGS required that a BREEAM Excellent rating be achieved.
